Riders for Health, the official charity of MotoGP has announced that tickets for the 2009 Day of Champions at Donington Park will be on sale as of Monday 6th April at 9am. Those wanting to see behind the scenes of MotoGP will be able to buy tickets through Riders for Health’s website.

Day of Champions is one of the standout highlights of the MotoGP season and each year thousands of fansgather at Donington Park to get the chance to see behind the scenes of MotoGP. This year’s the event will take place on Thursday 23rd July.

2009 is the last chance for fans to get an inside sneek peek at the paddock at Donington Park before 2010 when MotoGP moves to Silverstone.

Former British Superbike Champion, Niall Mackenzie, has confirmed that he will be leading the traditional ride-in to Donington. The ride-in is always a popular start to Day of Champions with those taking part enjoying a breakfast at the Victoria Pub in Coalville before they head to Donington for two parade laps of the famous track.

The highlight of the day promises to be the MotoGP auction. The atmosphere will be hyped to the maximum as the stars of MotoGP appear on the main stage to help raise funds for Riders lifesaving work in Africa.

 

Wednesday night on SBS there will be an encore presentation of Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman's first motorcycle adventure.

Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman's hatch a plan to ride from London to New York - across Russia, Mongolia, Kazakhstan to the Bering Strait. First they must complete fitness training then select their BMW bikes, do first aid training, of course learn some Russian, andfinally but importantly have injections.

Then boys will then need to do some more training in which Ewan manages to falls off his heavy bike a lot and test's him mentally at one point. Lastly Ewan and Charley visit the parents. Ewan's mum is philosophical, so is his dad, whilst Charley's young daughters are emotional, dealing with Charley's planned three-and-a-half-month absence.
