Stoner's 4th placing

stonerredbull.jpgFor just second time this year, Casey Stoner is off the stage with an unpleasing fourth place at the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix. The Aussie’s meausurement of these three days is ‘one to forget,’ with all the weariness associated of the last two races, he now has less points on the board.

“I can’t be happy with fourth place, even though I know that we have performed some damage limitation in terms of the overall standings. It’s a weekend to forget,” said Stoner.

“Today I didn’t feel as bad at the end of the race as I have done in the last two, but I’m still not right,” he stated in relation to his physical condition he has endured over the past month. The exchaustion has also brought with it the comeback of a prior issue in his scaphoid.

“I found it really difficult to keep my concentration over the last few laps and I was in a bit of a daze by the end. My left arm was feeling really tired by the end because of the fact there are so many left-handers here and my left wrist still doesn’t have the full range of movement after my operation in the winter,” he mentioned. “Now we’ll focus on trying to find out the root of the problem because racing in this condition is not much fun.”

Rossi and Brivio satisfied with Laguna result
valentinorossilaguna.jpgValentino Rossi picked up 20 more very important World Championship points at the Red Bull US Grand Prix on Sunday, extending further in front of Lorenzo and Stoner.  Congratulations for another well earned job to Rossi and his team, including manager Davide Brivio, plus his crew at Fiat Yamaha.

Rossi was not fully competitive as he lost victory to an upcoming Dani Pedrosa, however Rossi's two recent wins gives him excellent control of the title race.

Brivio added, “We were not at 100% so without the possibility to win the result was great. It was very good for the championship, we gained points, we remain as the leaders. We couldn’t attack strongly, so we defended very well.”

Pedrosa still trails 'The Doctor' by a considerable 59 point margin.  Brivios' comments were “We always consider a group of four riders capable of winning races and fighting for the championship. Dani has had a difficult season with injuries, but when he is at 100% he is in the group.

Marco Melandri warm up crash

marcomelandri.jpgMarco Melandri was feeling content the morning before the eighth race of the season, but as he was having a warm up session, a crash changed his confidence in preparations.

The Italian rider eventually came home tenth, if not for the unfortunate mishap in the morning he may have been able to gain more points on the 11th on the grid.

Melandri commented on his ideas for the upcoming visit to Sachsenring, “It’s a strange track because it’s very, very tight and you stay on the left side a lot.

Honda Wins at Laguna Seca 2009 - Dani Pedrosa

Lagunaseca2009.jpgHonda has been without victory for over a year since its win at Catalunya last season, until Dani Pedrosa won on Sunday at Laguna Seca.  He took the holeshot from fourth on the grid to cross the line, whilst being closely followed by his rival, Valentino Rossi.

Pedrosa was back after a string of injuries and crashes, lapping at every pace without a match from his opponents. He gained a huge gap at the front with Rossi chasing close behind.

Pedrosa still has a lot of work to do in being able to challenge the head of the ranks, current leader Rossi picked up extra World Championship points running second.  Jorge Lorenzo finished third with Casey Stoner fourth. Lorenzo had an injury to his shoulder and foot, he had an opportunity to overtake Rossi for second place with only four laps to go, however he moved awkwardly and had to settle for the next place.
