gresiniswitch.jpgSan Carlo Honda Gresini manager Fausto Gresini has cemented Sachsenring as one of the tracks at which rider talent is most superior to victory, and has not crushed his words in his anticipation for Toni Elías at the German track. The Spaniard has completed in the top ten on only three occasions prior to his re-location back to the satellite outfit, has stress to demonstrate his talent this weekend.

Predominately severe for Gresini is putting Elías onto an even playing field with the other contenders in the upper class, instead of the unorthodox method chosen by his charge so far in 2009. The rider’s alternative choic of tyre willl be under special examination.

“We have made some big steps forward recently with Toni but we know there is much more to come because in Laguna Seca, for example, we were still using the softer tyre whereas our competitors are on the hard rubber,” says Gresini. “It is important for us to transfer his performance to the hard tyre so that he can take that extra step in terms of his pace over race distance and this is our target for the next two races.”

Elías’ prior outcomes at Sachsenring are not the most imposing on his track record, however he explains for the hardships at the circuit.

Stoner with Anaemia

stoneranaemia.jpgAustralia's past world champ Casey Stoner has been diagnosed for anaemia, but confesses his ultimate problem in the preparation for this weekend's German Grand Prix is a tender rib injury.

The Ducati rider was wounded in a drop at Laguna Seca, his fourth placing kept him in contention with leader Valentino Rossi, who is 16 points in front in the heading race.

Having been treated with minor anaemia, Stoner commented: "I still don't feel like I am 100 per cent but the biggest problem now is that my ribs are very painful after the crash in qualifying in the US.

"It will be probably another hard weekend in Germany, but as always, we will do our best to stay as much as possible close to the lead of the championship."

Ducati's Project Director Livio Suppo stated: "This is a delicate time for Casey but we know he is made of stern stuff.

Carmelo Morales at Valencia

actioninvalencia.jpgAfter placing third at the CEV Buckler in Albacate and arriving second in Jerez, Carmelo Morales gained his first victory in the Extreme/Moto2 class at Valencia. Everyone was talking about the consistent and electrifying performance of the new sample engines in the Spanish championship.

Descriptions of the 600cc bikes that will incorporate the World Championship intermediate class from 2010 were traversed by four riders this prior weekend, with the top placing owned by Aleix Espargaró in fifth. Roberto Rolfo made his first appearance in the CEV Buckler with a Laglisse YM2 kit Moto2, and was happy with a seventh placing.

“The most important thing is that myself and the bike have got better as the weekend went on. I was able to go faster in the race than in practice and, although seventh is a good result, I hope to do better next time in Albacete,” he stated following the race.

suzuki_rmx450_001-480x320.jpgSuzuki is thrilled to reveal the opening of their new 2010 RMX450Z competition-specific enduro racer to its product schedule.

Due to arrive in Australia later this year, the racer is another contributor of Suzuki’s finals winning RM-Z450 motocrosser, including a 449cc fuel injected engine, race-bred frame, suspension and bodywork.

Built to get the most out of off-road performance, the new reproduction heads Suzuki’s admired off-road range, which incorporates Australia’s best seller in 2009, the street-legal DR-Z400E.

“The introduction of the 2010 RMX450Z adds some serious firepower to Suzuki’s off-road line-up,” Perry Morison, General Manager, Motorcycles, Suzuki Australia states. “It takes advanced technology developed by Suzuki in motocross competition, and puts it into a race-ready enduro package. The RMX450Z features the same 449cc fuel-injected engine that revolutionised motocross in the Suzuki RM-Z450, along with a host of other common components - it’s a high-spec off-road weapon.”

The all-new, 2010 Suzuki RMX450Z* will be offered in Australia in late 2009.

stonerlookingforwardtospain.jpgAussie rider Casey Stoner was far from impressed with his fourth placing at the US Grand Prix.  He confesses he is still making a great physical effort to overcome an unknown illness.

Stoner also follows another body wrenching weekend.  While he was courageous enough to place fourth, the 2007 champion lost precious ground on champion Valentino Rossi, who finished behind winner Dani Pedrosa at Laguna Seca.

Rossi now gains a nine-point lead over Jorge Lorenzo, Stoner is an additional seven points back in third place.

The 23-year-old explains his physical health was improved the past two races, however he is still reaching for 100 percent physicality.  "It has been a weekend to forget. I can't be happy with fourth place even if it has limited the damage to my championship chances," he states. "Today I didn't feel as bad at the end of the race as I have done in the last two but I'm still not right. I found it really difficult to keep my concentration over the last few laps and I was in a bit of a daze by the end." "My left arm was feeling really tired by the end because of the fact there are so many left-handers here and my left wrist still doesn't have the full range of movement after my operation in the winter."

Stoner will stay in the US for further medical tests at the Fremont Surgery Centre to grasp the source of the issue, before starting to prepare for the next round of the season in Germany on Sunday July 19.
