Broken leg for Randy de Puniet Following Randy de Puniet’s excellent ride to a surprise stage appearance at the British Grand Prix – where he
placed third trailing Andrea Dovizioso and Colin Edwards – the Frenchman has endured a setback in a personal training
incident.
Commencing a summer fitness regime, De Puniet was undertaking a motocross course last weekend with his
personal trainer Yves Demaria (also a former motocross competitor) in Aix en Provence when he smashed out going into a corner,
damaging his left leg quite severely.
The 28 year-old was transferred direct to hospital and x-rays appeared with
a fracture of the left ankle. Following an urgent surgery to apply a screw into his ankle, De Puniet left hospital on Monday
and will confer with Clinica Mobile staff within the next few days to arrange his rehabilitation. Let's hope he will be
racing in Brno due in less than two weeks.
De Puniet explained, “Yves and I have a specific training programme
to improve my performance on track this year. This programme has helped me a lot so far and through the summer break I didn’t
want to stop training. So we went out to do a short motocross session, but unfortunately I had a fall and the impact on the
ground caused a fracture of the left ankle.”

Luke George in coma Kawasaki Racing Team’s Luke George is in an induced coma after a shocking fall in the final Pro Lites event at
the season-ending series of the Australian Motocross Championship in Queensland last Sunday.
George who was
last season’s Lites champ, has arrived at Nambour Hospital where he was initiated into an induced coma to resolve
and ease the swelling and bruising to his brain that occurred in the fall.
Luke, 19, was later taken to
Gold Coast Hospital, where he is still situated.
Although Luke is still in an induced coma, he is now
breathing by himself and his blood pressure is stable. There is bruising around his brain, but the swelling has decreased.
“Yesterday doctors tried to pull him out of the induced coma and as a typical MX racer he was kicking
and thrashing,” stated Brett Whale, team manager of KRT. “Before he woke, doctors were concerned that
he would pull out monitors and suction tubes. They are going to repeat this today so I will know more tonight.
“This has gutted the whole team. I love Luke dearly. These boys are like my own. Luke is a true champion and
a fantastic ambassador for our product and, knowing how tough he is, I’m sure he’ll be back bigger and better
than ever. I just wish the family all the very best. We’re all trying to stay as positive as we can.”

Scott Redding departure Aprilia competitor Scott Redding will constantly have good memories of Donington Park after the World Championship’s
departure from the East Midlans event last weekend, with a shift to Silverstone due next year.
The 16
year-old from Gloucestershire, England confirmed he is on the World scene last season when he was the youngest ever Grand
Prix winner in history with an outstanding British Grand Prix 125cc victory, even though he could not reproduce the win this
season, he still rode splendidly for a third placing in a slippery race.
Concluding the weekend he said, “It
feels great because at the beginning of the weekend we struggled a little bit, but the team worked really well. We managed
to get a good set-up in the dry and the rain, although I never expected to get a podium again because there was so much pressure
at the beginning of the weekend. I was trying my hardest but the times were not coming.”
“After the
race got red flagged because of the rain the team said to me it’s now or never, it’s five laps, I’m
nowhere in the championship so I can just go for podiums and see what happens.”
On the past worth
of his achievements he states, “As it was the last ever visit to Donington it was great to have a British rider
on the podium and I know it has made a lot of people happy.

Jorge Martinez reflects on Aspar Congratulations to Julián Simón’s whos strong performance and necessary race victory in slippery
conditions at the British Grand Prix was appreciated by his boss Jorge Martínez ‘Aspar’, he now excels
100 World Championship victories, during a very powerful career lasting four decades as a competitor and team owner.
It was an important moment for the Spanish boss and gladly coincided with the weekend on which the announcement was
made that Aspar will ensue the step up into the higher class with Ducati next year.
Martínez ‘Aspar’
stated of the victories, “It’s incredible. In 1979 I began my career in a little town near Valencia and at that
time all I wanted to do was ride motorcycles. I never imagined reaching this stage, with three teams in the World Championship
and with 100 wins to my name. It’s like a dream for me and I want to thank all the riders who have contributed to this
total of victories, as well as the sponsors, the mechanics and everyone who has helped me over the last 30 years.”
He also thanked Simón and added, “It was a very intelligent performance by Julián because he was
really suffering as the track dried out. There were only 11 laps to go before the race got interrupted and I don’t
know how he would have finished if it had stayed dry.”
On the 250cc clash which arrived with Mapfre
Aspar competitor Álvaro Bautista lose out to championship opponent Hiroshi Aoyama again, Martínez replied, “At
the beginning of the year no-one was talking about Aoyama and he has become the man to beat. He is having a great season all-round,
he made a great start in the race here and built up a big lead, but Álvaro made a good comeback and was able to finish
second, very close behind him. I’m very happy with the way Álvaro rode as the conditions were very tricky.”
Speaking in general about his World Championship futures, which will have representation in all three classes next
season due to the freshly signed MotoGP contract with Ducati, Martínez cemented the long-term future of his staff structure.
“We have a base behind us of several years of hard work, with our riding school at the Ricardo Tormo circuit
in Valencia, our involvement in the Spanish national championship, in the 125cc Grand Prix class, in 250cc and now in MotoGP
with our new project,” stated the past World Champion.
