This Sunday arrives the completion in the MotoGP World Championship, as the event concludes its visit to Donington Park for the British Grand Prix.

World Championship front runner Valentino Rossi has his own recollections of Donington Park, the place of his initial win back in 2000. He has not been fortunate to win again at the track since 2005, but is definately able of changing this record in front of a capacity crowd that are always cheering him on.

Rossi hangs on to a fourteen point lead at the top of the standings, he added a fourth win to his total with victory in Germany the other day. His main focus so far this year is teammate Jorge Lorenzo, who he ejected for the victory in Sachsenring by just 0.099 of a point. Lorenzo has been victorious only once at Donington Park in 2006, he arrived sixth at the event last year, prior form doesn't count for much when taking on the Spaniard who has had a run of six consistent stage finishes.

Another fourteen points divides Ducati Marlboro’s Casey Stoner from the top class. The Aussie is still mending from a mystery illness, but has kept up the pace with some adventurous performances during the last month. A return to Donington Park will enable Stoner the opportunity to win his third Grand Prix on British turf, even though he is not a huge admirer of the track.

Dani Pedrosa’s attempt for the glory has increased as his own physicality issues have mended, but the Repsol Honda man is still far out of contention for the top four. Pedrosa’s last victory in Britain was past in his early season of 2006.

James Toseland will be feeling at home with The British Grand Prix, he has extra motivation to get an excellent result on the day. Even though Marco Melandri has returned back to Italy, the former runner-up can also be included in this weekend’s round as a home race. He spent a handful of years living just a stone’s throw from the track before the start of this year. He is currently sixth in the standings, behind Toseland’s teammate Colin Edwards.

The British Grand Prix begins on Sunday 26th July, practice sessions will commence the preceding Friday.
