Honda has been without victory for over a year since its win at Catalunya last season, until Dani Pedrosa won on Sunday
at Laguna Seca. He took the holeshot from fourth on the grid to cross the line, whilst being closely followed by his
rival, Valentino Rossi.
Pedrosa was back after a string of injuries and crashes, lapping at every pace
without a match from his opponents. He gained a huge gap at the front with Rossi chasing close behind.
Pedrosa
still has a lot of work to do in being able to challenge the head of the ranks, current leader Rossi picked up extra World
Championship points running second. Jorge Lorenzo finished third with Casey Stoner fourth.
Lorenzo
had an injury to his shoulder and foot, he had an opportunity to overtake Rossi for second place with only four laps to go,
however he moved awkwardly and had to settle for the next podium place. Stoner became weary in the final stages, overall he
stayed within close distance of Rossi and Lorenzo at the top of the standings, courtesy of his fourth place.
