Aprilia competitor Scott Redding will constantly have good memories of Donington Park after the World Championship’s
departure from the East Midlans event last weekend, with a shift to Silverstone due next year.
The 16 year-old
from Gloucestershire, England confirmed he is on the World scene last season when he was the youngest ever Grand Prix winner
in history with an outstanding British Grand Prix 125cc victory, even though he could not reproduce the win this season, he
still rode splendidly for a third placing in a slippery race.
Concluding the weekend he said, “It feels great
because at the beginning of the weekend we struggled a little bit, but the team worked really well. We managed to get a good
set-up in the dry and the rain, although I never expected to get a podium again because there was so much pressure at the
beginning of the weekend. I was trying my hardest but the times were not coming.”
“After the race got
red flagged because of the rain the team said to me it’s now or never, it’s five laps, I’m nowhere in the
championship so I can just go for podiums and see what happens.”
On the past worth of his achievements he
states, “As it was the last ever visit to Donington it was great to have a British rider on the podium and I know it
has made a lot of people happy. It is very good for me personally too because I’ve been struggling a lot this season
and it takes some pressure off me.”
